The closure procedure

The closure procedure applies if you withdraw your asylum application.

Closure is also an option offered to Ofpra, which thus retains freedom of assessment in view of individual situations and protection needs, if you are in any of the following cases:

• You have submitted your asylum application after the indicated timeframes ;

• you refuse to cooperate by failing to provide certain required information or by failing to provide your biometric data ;

• you refuse to provide your address ;

• you fail, without good justification, to attend your appointment or refuse to answer questions asked during the interview to such an extent that the outcome of the interview did not allow a decision to be made on the merits of the application;

• you repeatedly fail to comply with the obligation to report to the authorities or do not remain available to the authorities.

Decisions on implicit withdrawal may be appealed to the administrative court within 10 days of notification of the decision.

Unlike the closure procedures applicable to applications lodged before 12 June 2026, decisions on withdrawal cannot give rise to the reopening of the case. You may, however, submit a subsequent asylum application should your circumstances change.
